Golf Tournament

September 16th, 2018

Bright, adventuresome, and beautiful, Lauren brought joy to all who knew her. Born July 10, 1983, she grew up in Burlington and graduated with high honors from The Master’s School, West Simsbury. She attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA, graduating cum laude and earn- ing a B.A. in Spanish Studies and a B.A. in International Studies with an emphasis on intercultural communications.

Lauren invested much of her life traveling overseas, study- ing abroad in Europe and South America. Her love for other cultures led her to work for the Amazon Conservation Team, in Arlington, VA, as well as the Embassy of Spain, in Washington, DC. At her last job at the Center for Multicul- tural Human Services in Falls Church, VA, she worked as a translator for victims of violence and war crimes.

Lauren was an extraordinary person who lived a full live that was cut short. At age 22, Lauren died January 29, 2006, while vacationing on the Caribbean island of Domini- ca. After her death, the Lauren E. Avezzie Charitable Foundation was established to bring honor and glory to God’s kingdom, to keep Lauren’s memory alive, and to support causes that were important to her. It provides scholarships for students of all backgrounds, financial sup- port for Hartford City Mission and multicultural and interna- tional study initiatives and resources for the faith-based Hearts that HEAL support group for mothers in bereave- ment.

Lauren loved God, her family, friends, relatives, and people from a wide variety of cultures. Missing her beautiful smile, boundless energy, and genuine concern for others are her sister and best friend, Alison Avezzie Hanchett of Beverly, MA; her parents, Cindi and David Avezzie of Avon,CT; and her many friends and special relatives. Lauren was a wonderful daughter, sister, friend, and mentor, as well as an inspiration to many.

It is in her honor and memory that this golf tournament is established—so that we may support the values and caus- es she stood for. Thank you for considering a sponsorship of lunch, a tee or green, or a raffle prize.
